St Pete Beach Lifestyles
Fondly known as “The Sunshine City”, St. Pete enjoys an average of 361 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 74 degrees. Our enviable Gulf Coast climate coupled with endless sandy beaches, green golf courses, wildlife parks and refuges, and water sports, attract visitors year after year. Vacationers are often pleasantly surprised to discover that Central Florida’s unparalleled beauty and expansive outdoor attractions are just the beginning of what makes a St. Pete vacation so unforgettably fun and relaxing.
St. Pete and the surrounding area boast a diverse and lively collection of rich cultural attractions, outdoor concerts (like those held at Jannus Landing, purported to be the largest and oldest outdoor venue in the area), annual festivals, and exciting historical sites—many of which are within easy walking distance of TradeWinds Island Resorts. Downtown St. Pete is infused with a flavor of the Renaissance cosmopolitan. Home to countless attractions, including the Dali Museum (which houses the largest collection of Salvador Dali’s work outside of Spain), the world-renown Million Dollar Pier, the Museum of Fine Art, Florida Holocaust Museum, and the Palladium Community Theater, there is no end to what can be explored and enjoyed. Walking is not the only option, of course. Feel free to sit back and enjoy a guided trip on “The Looper”, a fun and convenient trolley that loops downtown every half hour.
The deeply talented Florida Orchestra, based in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater/Tampa area, is touted to be one of the best regional orchestras in the country. For the 2005-06 season, the orchestra scheduled more than 90 shows in about 15 venues. That means that visitors to the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area can enjoy music no matter where they are enjoying themselves because the Florida Orchestra will come to them. From the late morning Cozy Morning Coffee series to after dinner Super Pops performances, the Florida Orchestra makes for perfect entertainment.
St. Pete area restaurants offer a wide range of flavors, from local specialties like the sea grouper, to internationally-infused fare and home-style favorites. Dress ranges from casual to very formal, as does the mood. Plenty of hot spots offer beachside seating, fabulous views of the bay, and some restaurants are even beach walk-ups.
As the sun sets over the gulf, fun-seekers find that St. Pete’s sizzling nightlife is just heating up. Opportunities abound to dance ‘til dawn, soak in the rich rhythms and beats of rock, jazz, or blues artists, or settle in with a beer and some conch fritters to watch the big game at a popular sports bar. For some truly local color, check out Neptune Lounge in nearby Tarpon Springs. The lounge features all local bands, five nights a week, and doubles as a bicycle shop by day!
